Terms used in the Year 1  SK Textbook.

Phonemic awareness - the understanding that a word is made up of a sequence of sounds
                                      and ability to pick out and manipulate these individual sounds.

Phoneme                   - a unit  of  sound

Grapheme                 - a letter or a group of letters representing a sound.

Blending                   - combining individual phonemes to form  a  word.

Segmenting              - dividing words into phonemes.

GURU PERLU MENJADI MAHAGURU
Sebagai pendidik, kita tidak seharusnya semata-mata menghambat atau dihambat masa untuk menghabiskan sukatan pelajaran. Guru seharusnya berusaha meningkatkan diri menjadi seorang mahaguru dalam ertikata sebenar - bukan sekadar terliur dengan mata gaji, pangkat, gelaran dan sebagainya. Profesion perguruan terletak di hati dan bergantung pada keikhlasan, bakat dan kemahuan untuk meningkatkan ilmu dalam bidangnya. Seorang guru mahaguru akan diingati orang kerana kata-kata dan tindak tanduknya sebagai seorang guru, manakala guru 'biasa' akan diingati orang sambil lalu atau secara tidak sengaja kerana namanya tertera pada papan kenyataan mantan guru sekolah.
